I have been working in kitchens for over 22 years now first starting with MFI, working in the warehouse picking kitchens for customers, ordering spare parts fo customers, building displays by the time I left I was the admin manager whose responsibilities included customer service, managing the installation teams, checking plans for customers. In the time I was there I learnt a lot about the different components of a kitchen and how a kitchen goes together.
I left MFI to start installing kitchens which I successfully did for over 15 years, going on from installing MFI to installing for other major suppliers like Magnet, becoming one of their ‘A’ class fitters due in part to my attention to detail. Then a local bespoke kitchen company asked me to help with their installations, customer ordering, surveying, designing of special bespoke units and being up for a new challange I took this oppertunity. Probably the main thing I learnt from this was attention to detail, a designer can make a very pretty picture but the installer has to make it real, and he needs the materials to do this, that is why i like to survey every kitchen so I see what the installer needs and hear what the customer wants.
I truly enjoy working with kitchens, I’m not a salesperson that side of the business has never interested me but I do see that across the market there is a vast difference in quality between the ‘sheds’ and independant showrooms, and I’m amazed at the price showrooms charge, people seem to think that they cant afford a quality kitchen and settle for less. I dont think customers have to, you can demand the best and I can supply that.
